Changing Images of American Women in the 19th Century
This exhibiton concentrates on how women gain their independence for the first time in American Society durign the 19th Century and how they are portrayed in images.

PERMANENT COLLECTION:
Also on view in our TEMPORARY LOCATION are selections from our Permanent Collection. Highlights of the permanent collection include the paintings of celebrated Cape folk artists Ralph and Martha Cahoon and 19th century gems by the likes of James Buttersworth, William Bradford, Ralph Blakelock, John J. Enneking and Erastus Salisbury Field.

The mission of the Cahoon Museum of American Art is to promote love and enjoyment of the visual arts through exhibits, educational programs, and continuing development of its permanent collection. The museum both celebrates the legacy of Cape Cod folk artists Ralph and Martha Cahoon, displaying their art and preserving the historic building that was their home and studio, and embraces the full vitality of American art with emphasis on past and present artists of Cape Cod and the Northeast.
